This is the Center where I will be completing my IC hours! |
1. Describe in detail what you plan to do for your 30 hours.
- For my Independent Component I plan to take an Administration of Justice Class. This class is located at the San Gabriel Valley Regional Occupation Program and Technical Center. The instructor's name is Mr. Romero he has been a Forensic Scientist for most of his life, until he decided he wanted to start teaching. Since he is very knowledgeable I hope to interview him on my topic. Any who the class instruction is very broad and detailed at the same time. By this I mean the topics covered vary greatly, however there is a flow, and for each topic the instructor talks about he goes into great detail providing as many examples as he can. In the class we learn everything from the police, prisons, court systems, and even a unit on forensics. I take notes during class instruction, when we are being taught. We also do handouts, and write-ups that are like tests but he doesn't count them as such. It's basically an assessment of what we have learned so far after each topic. In Admin of Justice I also occasionally receive homework too, and it's generally based on what we have learned that day. This class runs Monday-Friday from 3-5.
2. Discuss how or what you will do to meet the expectation of showing 30 hours of evidence.
- To provide proof of showing 30 hours of work I will document all the notes and coursework I have received throughout this class. I will write up a blog showing said proof and documentation. I will also leave the contact information of the instructor so he can verify that I was attending class. On top of this I will create a form that the instructor will fill out to certify I had completed said hours.
3. Explain how what you will be doing will help you explore your topic in more depth.
- The reason I am taking this course is because it relates closely to my topic. I hadn't realised this until after a conversation I had with my mentor. In it she explained to me how essential it was that I understood the legal system as well as police work and detective work. This is because as a CSI you work with all these different fields, so it's good to have a great understanding of them, and how they work. So since this class is Admin of Justice I will learn about all these processes, as well as some forensics.
