Blog 12: Holiday Project Update

1.  It is important to consistently work on your senior project, whether it is break or we are in school.  What did you do over the break with your senior project?
  • Over break I accomplished quite a bit. My mentor and her partner set up a pretend crime scene and had me and another students process it start to finish. This took many strenuous hours and a lot of tedious work. However I feel it was valuable time that was well spent. It's one thing to actually do the research during research check, but to actually physically apply is something entirely different. One of the cool things I also got to do during this experience was shoe casting. I also told my mentor about the 30 minute 2nd lesson coming up and  she requested to see sort of what I was going to do. So what I did was make a lesson plan, based on the previous template, but including an activity. After seeing this my mentor helped me revise it as well, as make some suggestions of what I should do for my activity. All this is going to help me tremendously when I get the second lesson contract this week on Friday.
2.  What was the most important thing you learned from what you did, and why?  What was the source of what you learned?
  • The most important thing I would say that I learned over break was the effort, and quality of time that goes into a crime scene. I got this from not only processing a crime scene, but going over each step in depth with my mentor. She has numerous years of experience, and everything she explained to me has more of heavier weight, so to speak, than just reading an article.
3.  Your third interview will be a 10 question interview related to possible answers for your EQ. Who do you plan to talk to and why?
  • I plan to interview my mentor's work partner Tony Nuguyen. He has been a Crime Scene Investigator for a number of years. Has a degree related to his field from an accredited university. Overall he is just a perfect fit to help me answer my essential question.
